Wayne Leechford is commissioning new works for baritone saxophone. Composers include Lanette
Lind, Thomas Massella, Richard Faith, Adrienne Albert, and Elizabeth Raum. This commissioning project will culminate in a faculty concert at NC State University in February 2011 and a CD recording of all the newly commissioned pieces.November 2009
Children of the Horn new songs and promo video. They will perform at ArtsMarket 2009 in High Point, NC on Nov. 10.

Wayne Leechford has accepted an interim position with the internationally touring chamber music group New Century Saxophone Quartet for the 2009-2010 season. Check the schedule page for upcoming concerts.
March 2009
- Two of Wayne Leechford's students were awarded chairs at the 2009 All-State Band Competition. 1st chair tenor sax (high school) and 2nd chair bass clarinet (middle school). The students were selected based on their audition performances.
- An alto saxophone student of Wayne Leechford's was accepted into Governor's School of North Carolina.
January 2009

- Several of Wayne Leechford's students were awarded chairs at 2009 Central District Band Competition. Middle School students won 2nd chair bass clarinet, 3rd chair saxophone, and 7th and 9th chair clarinet. High School students won 1st chair alto sax, tenor sax, and bari sax and 7th chair clarinet. In all, 11 students made the cut. The students were selected based on their audition performances.

students were awarded chairs at the 2008 Wake County All-County Band Competition. They won 1st chair bass clarinet 2nd chair alto saxophone. The students were selected based on their audition performances.

Wayne Leechford was hired as the exclusive musician coordinator for the new Durham Performing Arts center in Durham, NC.

Eight of Wayne Leechford's saxophone and clarinet students were awarded chairs in the 2008 Central District All-District Competition. Middle school students won 1st chair clarinet and 1st chair baritone saxophone (symphonic band) and 1st chair bass clarinet (concert band). High school students won 1st chair alto saxophone and 1st chair baritone saxophone (9-10 wind ensemble) and 1st and 2nd chair alto saxophone and 1st chair tenor saxophone (9-12 symphonic band). The students were selected based on their audition performances. Congratulations!!!
